Our Story

I am a second generation jig tier, continuing a craft first started by my father (John T Wirth) in the early 60’s. Initially, all aspects of lure craft was completed in house which consisted of casting, painting, and tying jigs, and included processing & dyeing fur and feathers. Most jigs produced in the beginning were made with custom, single pour molds; the Barumba Head design being the jig dad was known for and a favorite in the walleye filled waters found in Central / Northern NY State. Learning to tie at a young age I continue the jig crafting tradition after dad’s passing in 2003.

The techniques and materials remain the same as was produced in the early years. Many of the single pour molds I continue to use along with other popular, commercially available, jig molds. Each jig is painted by hand using epoxy paint, which in those early days, was the most durable paint available. Though it is no longer necessary to process and dye by hand the materials needed, I continue to produce a traditional bucktail jig.

With the addition of the Airhead jig patterns it is my hope to refine an old tradition and offer a custom painted jig that impressing fishermen & fish alike, while sticking to those traditional tying techniques.

Each jig, fly, and streamer available on our site is tied by hand from our home base in Central New York.
